Young Mungo by Douglas Stuart

2.0

This book should have come with A LONG LIST of trigger warnings. (i.e. rape, abuse (all the kinds), violence, addiction, abortion, etc. etc.)

Lots of violence and pain, I thought it was supposed to be a book about queer love, but I feel like I read a different book than people claiming it was that. The reason I'm giving it 2 and not 1 is because, crazy as it sounds, in a faraway distance I could see the plot that the author meant and it did have some passages that were nicely written. But I'd rather read about queer joy than all the pain and suffering in this book. Ps: the actual "love" part was maybe a handful of pages unfortunately.

Still need to wrap my head around what I read, might update this review later if I have gathered my thoughts into a more cohesive review.
