*POTENTIAL SPOILERS AHEAD

Right away from the beginning I was intrigued by Fallon, her sass, her story, and her unique first time meeting Ben. Once again, with Colleen’s magic touch, she reeled me into the story and had me loving Fallon and Ben from the beginning of the story.

November 9th was a significant date because it was the day that changed Fallon’s life. For the longest time, Fallon grew up wanting to become an actress and when she was sixteen started to become a rising star on a television show. Until one night on November 9th, changed everything and with it changed the direction of Fallon’s life for the next two years. Fast forward to two years later, Fallon was eighteen and ready to jumpstart her life again and give her acting career another shot. During her lunch with her father, she ended up meeting the man who would become a very important part of her life, Ben.

Fallon and Ben’s first time meeting quite unexpected, but oh so lovely. I loved the description of how when they made eye contact with each other that first time, it just spoke to my romantic side. Ben inserted himself into Fallon’s life quite literally by pretending to be her boyfriend in order to help out with the disastrous lunch with her father. So right away, we got fake dating, getting to know one another over the course of a day, talking about book worthy kisses, and more. I loved the idea that Ben and Fallon made the promise to always meet on November 9th, and in between the time they were apart, they had homework assignments they assigned to each other.

If there’s one thing among many that I love is when books mention book related things. For instance, I loved how Fallon got Ben hooked on romantic books and how they discussed book related topics such as, Ben trying to be an “alpha male” and try to act aloof. Poor sweet Ben couldn’t more of the opposite because, right when he saw Fallon again (they were both nineteen now) he couldn’t stop smiling. Ben’s affection with Fallon was both romantic and thoughtful. I loved how Ben tried romantic gestures to make Fallon laugh or just try in general such as, before Fallon boarded her flight for New York, Ben tried to do a slow motion, grand gestures that resulted in a kiss worthy moment that Fallon admitted was definitely a ten. Ben not only made Fallon laugh, but had me smiling while reading. I also loved that everything that Ben told Fallon in regards to her scars wasn’t sugarcoated, but absolute honesty and made Fallon see herself in a new light.

Also if you’ve read, “Ugly Love”, then prepare to see Miles and Tate because they appear in the story! I had to do a double take and make sure I read properly the characters names and sure enough it really was Miles and Tate. Considering that Ian(Ben’s brother) was a pilot, it made sense as to how he and Miles were good friends since they worked together. Aww my heart was happy seeing Miles and Tate again.

Each year that Fallon and Ben met on November 9th brought new moments between them, and new discoveries about each other. Some moments were beautiful and romantic, others ended in heartbreak and sadness. Fallon and Ben definitely had their fair share of ups and downs, it was a rollercoaster of emotions. Towards the end, I was so shocked and gasping at the plot twist that I couldn’t believe what I read. The plot twist truly created big conflict for Fallon and Ben and by the end I wasn’t sure whether Fallon was going to forgive Ben. That being said, while the plot twist was good, I was still reeling from the shock of the truth that Ben knew all those years before and during his time knowing Fallon.

Overall, I would recommend this book. The plot was truly unique and in true Colleen Hoover fashion, she’ll have you hooked from beginning to end. With an emotional storyline and Fallon and Ben at the helm of this story, you’ll see their love story unfold as well as the hard times they went through.
