Writing & Art Style: 5⭐️/5
I think this is one of the most gorgeous graphic novels I’ve owned in a while. Smythe presents us with a beautiful cast of literally colourful gods and goddesses who, at all times, are gorgeously bright and stunning. Her use of motifs through the art is stunning and brilliant, even when our MC was going through a traumatic event. Her way of making a horrific act somehow beautiful, the way she presented it in both prose and art, is a feat to be applauded.
Characters: 5⭐️/5
Only at a few sections did I feel the characters lose any sense of development. It was such a fleeting feeling that presented a nearly perfect creation of characters who feel alive at almost every turn of the story. I love that it focused on more than just Persephone and Hades, as it gave the audience a fuller understanding of Olympus and this Greek-god-inhabiting world we’re flung into. I fell in love with Hades, thought Poisedon’s fickleness hilarious, and laughed, out loud, at several moments with Zeus and Hera. I love the literally bright characters so deeply.
Plot: 4.5⭐️/5
The plot felt well-paced and developed. I do think that, while the later story draws in the other characters beautifully (as seen on the Webtoon), I think this is the only thing that felt a bit underdeveloped in the current book – and only slightly. I would have loved to see more of a reason to jump around to other characters (even though I know it’s coming in the next installment). Overall, it was highly enjoyable (and sometimes, quite funny).
