All the Water in the World by George Ella Lyon
4.0
This was another of the books provided in the workshop led by George Ella Lyon and held at the East Tennessee History Center last week. Written in a poetic style, this book still shares facts about water - its uses, the water cycle, the fact that some places in the world do not have plentiful water, etc. This woudl be a wonderful adddition to a science unit on water, or as part of a poetry unit to show the different uses of poems. The illustrations showing rain beating down on umbrellas, filling a cup, splashing from a hose all draw the reader in with the pull of familiarity. Then other pages show more details of the world at large and all the diverse creatures needing water. It packs a big punch for such a short book.
I know that several of the teachers at my school will use this throughout the year, but it will also appeal to young readers to look at on their own.
