This book was amazing. Everything I wanted from a YA magical realism story.
First many many thanks to the author and Katie Garland for including me on the book tour and sending me a copy ahead of its published date of March 29.
This is the first in the Natural Intelligence Revolution trilogy, and I found the plot so interesting, about nature fighting us back.
I loved not only themes of ecology, but of compassion, family, trust, loyalty, and recovering from traumas and dealing with external judgment. The writing style had me hooked from page one with excellent descriptions and emotions portrayed on each page. I loved the friendships formed, the beginning of a romance, the secrets revealed, and the darker side of the “natural revolution.”
This was parts murder mystery, parts fantasy, parts YA, parts family drama, and parts romance and I was here for every bit of it. I can’t wait to read the rest of the series and I highly recommend to everyone to go out and order the Lightning Tree by its release date!
