Servant of Earth by Sarah Hawley
5.0
I LOVED this book! This was exactly the fantasy I needed to channel all of my dark feelings into. Kenna is our somewhat Katniss-coded hero--she braves the dangerous bog to hunt for things she can resell at the market, she doesn't care about the status quo, and she just wants a quiet life with her best friend. When her village has their drawing to see which women of the village will be sent as tributes into the bog to appease the faeries that live in an underground realm, Kenna embarks on a dark journey.
This book has all of the heart-racing elements that I want in a fantasy novel--a sadistic king, a series of difficult TRIALS, a love triangle among morally grey characters, and a heroine who leaves it all on the mat.
Also this hardcover is GORGEOUS! There's no dust jacket, just a beautiful cover design printed right onto the cover. You don't want to miss this one!
