Never Fade by Alexandra Bracken

I am so incredibly happy that I finally finished this book! Not because it was bad or anything like that, but because it took me almost 2 weeks to read it ... that's really, really long for me. I couldn't quite bring myself to pick it up and actually start reading - I don't even know why. I guess because it was boring in the beginning ... and if a book doesn't grab me right from the start it's usually really hard to keep my attention but I know many people love this series and therefore I had to keep going, if I wanted to or not.

I'm just glad it picked up on pace once Chubs showed up and they were out in the wild again - I liked those scenes the most and to be honest the whole Children's League didn't interest me. Not one bit. It still doesn't, although I kinda started to like Cate ... she seemed okay, especially in comparison to the other guys at HQ. Oh well. As of Jude and Vida I have to say that I also didn't really care about them at first ... however around the middle of the book they became more important and I finally started liking them and by the end ... well, it crushed me. That's just unfair! WHY, OH WHYYY?!

"Ghosts don't haunt people--their memories do."

What I really enjoyed though was Ruby! She's really badass and determined in this book and I just loved this side of her ... she did everything to protect her friends and also others that weren't part of her group. I liked her a lot and admired her for her braveness and for making desicions that weren't easy but had to be made. As of her situation with Liam ... well, I totally didn't understand that. It just annoyed and frustrated me and I wanted to punch her really badly. I kept thinking: "JUST TELL HIM ALREADY!!! He deserves it and you know it!", ugh. But those scenes between the two of them were also my favorites ... all those feels!

"I think I'm losing it—I don't know what's happening, what happened, but I look at you, I look at you, and I love you so much. Not because of anything you've said, or done, or anything at all. I look at you, and I just love you, and it terrifies me. It terrifies me what I would do for you."

Like I already mentioned above, I had some difficulties getting into the book. The first half bored me to death and even though there were some action scenes I couldn't care less. I missed Chubs, Liam and Zu. However, around the middle of the book it got significantly better and that's also why I gave it 4 stars instead of less ... the ending was interesting again and even though it didn't end with a super cruel cliffhanger I'm quite curious about the last book!

Overall it was a good sequel, even though I'm a bit disappointed. I really, really, really hope the last book will be more like the first, where it was about the characters and relationships. Nonetheless I'm still looking forward to "In The Afterlight"! :)
