Decent book for a child to consider loneliness and loss. Characters have depth. Plot moves along nicely. Enjoy the writing style - engaging and sincere.
Do not enjoy the theme of orphans; it feels overdone and too sad for my children (maybe at the time of writing it was not overdone?). Would prefer to read a book that deal with loss while keeping families together. Themes: home, loss/loneliness
