Daughter of Smoke & Bone by Laini Taylor

3.0

The beginning was a bit boring and slow. But you know, it the necessary part of the book where the foundation of story is set.
Once Akiva showed up, things started moving along much faster, and everything got more interesting.
The writing style was kinda weird. It had a lot of words I'd never heard of before (thank you kindle dictionary!), at first I'd assumed that was because of the writer's nationality, but she's from the US apparently, sooo... so much for that theory.
I didn't much like the names of the main characters either, mainly because I wasn't sure which was the strong syllable, so I didn't have anyway to know if I was pronouncing them right. And also because, to me, it didn't feel like the names fit the characters (except for Brimstone, that one fits like a glove!).
I'm on the edge about this book. I really want to love it, but it's not really happening. I guess I'll have to wait and see if the next books manage to sway me one way or another.
