“Don’t lose me in the madness.”

This book was easily one of my favorite reads this year.
It was, after a long dry spell, the first to hit the spot again. One of those that pulled me in and had me feel all the feels and obsess for days. I also absolutely recommend the audio book for this.

Tropes
- ex-con
- roommate
- forbidden love
- forced proximity
- encouraging her darkness

Hawke is the perfect dark MMC, possessive and intense. The retrospective jealousy I still feel is no joke, even knowing how loyal and loving he is. (really, that hurt! But it was also necessary, I get it. But it still hurt...)

He comes with chaos and baggage - the literal ex-con baddie - yet there is not a single doubt for me that he is the better man for her and obviously us. This book is hot and empowering and had me swoon as much as bite my figurative nails.

This was my first Jescie Hall book since That Sik Luv and the one to make me an unapologetic fan.It is the kind of writing that keeps me on edge, triggers the anxiety in the best way and also meets all my dark, romantic desires. I love Jescie's descriptive writing and the characters she builds through contrasting them in various dynamics.

Not to mention the plot!
The premise could have gone so wrong but the way this was written? Not ONCE did I anticipate nor question an action or plot twist in this book. I was roped in from start to finish and so sad when it ended.

I also want to add that yes, that bonus scene is very important thank you very much.
