I am not a fan of horror, gore, or depressing subjects, but Flynn is simply a masterful writer. I would only recommend this book to those interested in reading new and well-executed literary techniques. Flynn's speciality is drawing the reader into a completely unsympathetic protagonist. I've now read her first 3 novels, and hated every one of her main characters. Her plots, twists, and descriptions are unparalleled by any contemporary writer I've come across. Her Kansas City and Missouri nods don't hurt, either.
