Oh my goodness, I feel like I’ve been waiting forever to read Brig’s story, but in actuality it wasn’t that long haha. Brig Knightly, the youngest of his family, outgoing, and the epitome of being a hopeless romantic, Brig was dead set on finding his happily ever after throughout the series, and in this story it finally came. Once again, the small town of Port Snow was where the story took place, and of course the town and the Knightly were there with all their lovable personalities, and hilarious dialogue. I was so excited to see Brig finally get the one thing he had been wanting for the longest time, a love of his own.
I feel like with each of the books centered on the Knightly brothers, I developed a fondness for each of them, and I loved them all, but I gotta say when it came to Brig, I was intrigued to see his story most of all. Brig had always been the type of man to make me laugh, and with his goofy personality I couldn’t get enough of him, he was definitely a sweetheart, and (sigh) I loved him. Like Brig, I find myself being a hopeless romantic as well so, in that regard me and Brig were pretty similar with our day dreams of finding love and imagining the most epic gestures to do. Unlike Brig though, I didn’t actively go out of my way to find love, Brig was very enthusiastic and determined to find his own love, especially with the idea that he needed to break his “curse”. Yeah Brig still believed in the curse, and while it wasn’t real, for Brig apparently it was. With Brig’s idea of love always being at the forefront of his mind, he continued to hold onto hope that he’d find someone special, maybe even someone who he happened to already know, and had been RIGHT INFRONT OF HIM THE WHOLE TIME… ahem Ruth.
Ruth was always the character that was on the sidelines, didn’t appear as much, but when she did, it was implied that she had a crush on Brig. Ruth was pretty witty and hilarious when she was around her friends, but when it came to Brig, she would freeze up and momentarily lose all ability to speak coherently. I mean, yeah the Knightly’s were good looking men so I feel like I would have reacted the same way as Ruth haha. I really enjoyed seeing Ruth become more comfortable around Brig because, not only did she show Brig her true self, but it also made Brig see Ruth in a different light, one that showcased her wonderful, kind, funny personality. For the most part, it seemed like Ruth was on a new mission in this book, which was taking risks and going after what she wanted. I could relate to Ruth in that I too am so use to my comfort zone. To see Ruth step out of her comfort zone, and explore new things was a big step that I truly admired her for. Ruth truly did shine in this story, and despite the previous books only showing some brief moments with her, I was glad to finally get to know her and see all the warmth and humor come through.
For someone who was dead set on finding love, Brig was pretty oblivious especially when Ruth started dropping hints and clues to him. Bless Brig and his sweet demeanor, but my goodness that man could not pick up on the obvious clues that Ruth was giving him. You would think that with the blatant hints, Brig would piece it together, but nope, he didn’t. In a way, I found it hilarious that literally everyone in town knew that Ruth liked Brig, and yet Brig didn’t pick up on Ruth’s flirting or hints she “casually” dropped when they hung out. Yeah I felt bad for Ruth, especially when she started to get fed up with Brig not getting it, *shaking my head.
I will say that despite Brig not catching onto to the hints, I did love seeing him be so comforting and sweet towards Ruth. For instance, when Ruth tried to brush her problems, Brig was always insistent they talk things out, to clear the air, and be honest with one another. Brig was helpful and reassuring with Ruth in a way she hadn’t experienced with Brig before. Brig was an easy going guy with a tendency to get in over his head when it came to love, but other than that he truly was a goofball, and a great listener. For all the joking around and seemingly lighthearted nature, Brig was actually a lot more than people gave him credit for. So despite Brig not realizing the amazing woman set before him, he had to (unfortunately) come to that conclusion on his own.
OMG THE END HAS FINALLY COME AND IM SO OVERCOME WITH JOY! Although I’m sad that I’ve finished Brig and Ruth’s stories, as well as reading the previous books in the series, I’ve grown to love each and every character in the series. Brig’s story was one I had been waiting to read for a while and his hopeless romantic tendencies lived up to my expectations. Especially with the ending and how Brig did his grand big gesture for Ruth, it was both equally hilarious yet so meaningful and yup you guessed it, swoon worthy. The epilogue also was sweet, heartwarming, and a loving way to end Ruth and Brig’s story. Ruth and Brig’s relationship was one that needed to happen and thankfully the rest of the Knightly clan put their thinking caps on and were able to push those two together. From Brig being a complete goofball to Ruth’s sweet yet sassy personality, their chemistry was wonderful and they didn’t disappoint. I definitely got the swoony feeling while reading and I have a soft spot for Brig, that handsome yet clueless man finally got the final picture of what was always right in front of him. I absolutely adored this book, and I would highly recommend reading the previous books in order to fully experience each of the Knightly brothers stories and their significant others.
