A young Cree woman living in Vancouver is haunted by dreams of her dead sister, dreams that start to leak into reality.
It's somewhat more of a look into family, inter-generational trauma, colonialism and grief than it is a straight up horror novel. It does the first part really beautifully, especially the complicated layers of obligation, guilt and love between siblings. Almost all of the characters are women, several of them queer, and they have a beautiful range of relationships with each other. I liked how it allowed space for things being broken, and didn't try to solve everything by the end.
I thought it could've leaned a little harder into the horror element, which was effectively creepy in several places, but needed to ratchet up the tension more to 100% land the climax.
