As a character, I feel like Madeline was completely and afterthought. She came in on a whirlwind she wasn't discussed during the times that all of the children were missing, and she just pops up at the end after the ghost tries to harm her to say that she's better than she ever was in their opening up a hotel. And that is what takes the two stars off of this book for me because that character could have been written completely different and it could have been a little bit better actually it could have been a lot better. I'm not even going to sugarcoat it. I think that maybe this book was hastily written, I don't know. But I think that it's a good story that was not executed the best that it could have been. Had it have been a better execution I probably would have given it four
