Sea Loves Me by Mia Couto

mysterious reflective fast-paced

4.0

Like most short story collections, it's hard to rate. Some stories I loved...others, not so much. Beautiful language throughout, a little flowery and indulgent, but I enjoyed it. It lent to the mystical folklore-y atmosphere.

Some of my favorite stories: How Ascolino do Perpetuo Socorro Lost His Spouse; The Tale of the Two Who Returned from the Dead; The Perfume; Rain; Lamentations of a Coconut Tree; The Dead Man's Revelations; The Assault; Beggar Friday Playing in the World Cup; The Owner of the Man's Dog.
