“I found myself staring at her, which was stupid since I'd seen her a billion times. Still, she seemed so much more mature. It was kind of intimidating. I mean, sure, she'd always been cute, but she was starting to be seriously beautiful.”

I felt like Rick Riordan was toying with my emotions especially with the first few chapters. I wasn't ready, but it was understandable. This was Book Five and I just knew that I would love it. I had rated the series all five stars anyway.

My favorite book was The Battle of the Labyrinth, but after reading this — they were both tied to first place. It was just so good! The characters, the storyline, the monsters, and not to mention the familiar names that I've learned from Greek Mythology were there too. It was nice to see them included.

It made me very nostalgic. It was like I'm back to being a little kid again and for the most part, I missed my friends. My real and lifelong friends that I haven't seen for months, some even years. I envied the demigods a little because they were free to see each other, not to mention they all lived in Camp Half-Blood while we weren't allowed to go out at this time, and even if we did, we had to follow a set of rules.

Even though it was written in the first person view, Rick Riordan made sure to include what the others were feeling outside of Percy's emotions. Through Percy, we met new people and also got to know better some of the old ones from the previous books.

I wasn't expecting to cry but I did. It made my eyes hurt because I was reading for hours and then that scene had to come up. I wished for a different outcome but also knew it was for the best.

As for the characters, my love for Percy and Annabeth grew even more. Sally Jackson is still the best mother ever. I want to give Grover metals and tin cans for him to eat and tell him he's worth it. I want to hug Nico tightly and tell him that I'm very proud of him. I want to hug Clarisse and tell her that she fought greatly. I want to thank Thalia for everything because I was really impressed.

And Luke. I want to hug him the tightest that I can and stay like that for a little while to reassure him. Everyone is a hero and I love them for it.
