I loved the core story of Tes, how she can fix magic, as well the theft of the persalis and the threat of the Hand. However the "what has happened in the last seven years" parts felt a bit like filler and interrupted the pace of the main story. I guess I've never been a super fan, and maybe others are more interested in Lila and Kell sparing for years. Kosika's story also felt like it was just setting up the premise for the next book, which I'm interested in, but it seemed a bit unconnected to everything else.
