The Importance of Being Earnest and Other Plays by Oscar Wilde

5.0

My edition had the following plays:

1. Lady Windermere's Fan
2. A Woman Of No Importance
3. An Ideal Husband
4. The Importance Of Being Earnest
5. Salomé

Salomé was my favourite naturally. Although i would suggest people to do their research to thoroughly understand this. Read a paper alongside this to understand all the themes, motifs and symbols, otherwise it might not be as enchanting. I'm a mythology nerd so this interested me more than any other play. I was absolutely invested, even made annotations and notes throughout.

An ideal husband and a woman of no importance were my other favourites.

An ideal husband, i mean what can I say it's absolutely amazing! The Katherine vibes mrs. Cheveley gives are emmaculate!

A woman of no importance had the best twists and the best ending!

Surprisingly i really did not like the importance of being earnest. It was a little bit predictable, and i know this is my modern brain working because I've seen this trope before. This might have been the original material for this trope but all the same it did not interest me. I might want to see this performed to fully understand its charm. I thought the title was very clever, did not expect that that was what it meant.

Lady Windermere's fan was alright. Didn't enjoy it as much as i thought I would.

Honestly I would read anything this man wrote. All in all an amazing collection! Will be coming back to it many many times in the future.
