How Should a Person Be? by Sheila Heti

2.0

There were a few incredibly touching, beautiful passages, an incredible description of what my girlfriend calls being "dick drunk." But mostly it was so literary and experimental that it made me feel like I was too dumb to get what the author was trying to do. Plus I didn't understand her choices at all. Often they annoyed me. She's totally opaque to me, despite the tell-all vibe. Plenty of themes in here that are of interest to me: art, how to be an artist, how to live a good life, friendship, Judaica, etc., but none of them written about in a way that was accessible to me.
