Hmmm. I need to process this book more. I’m sad about how it ended. Though I knew it couldn’t end happily. I think this book - the entire series really - was written very well. I just tend to like happy books. This series wasn’t really happy or comforting in any way. There wasn’t really a light at the end of the tunnel. Just a less bad world than the one they currently lived in. It feels both like so much happened in this series, and that barely anything happened. The world will continue on very similarly to how it was already.
I admire the author for creating such a well-thought out and complex series. But it left me feeling philosophical with a cloud of melancholy.
