Reading the Signs by Keira Andrews

3.75

Gets the job done, Reading the Signs is a very enjoyable MM sports romance that's expertly done all around—dimensional characters, fun banters, and tantalizing steam. Even for someone who is not particularly into baseball, the sport section manages to be engaging and keeps me informed enough on the basics to follow.

There is some lingering unevenness, with some scenes delivered clunkier than others (the out-of-nowhere third act conflict), and the slightly in-your-face PSA about acceptance reading a little forced and naive in today's climate (the novel was originally published in 2016). Even though its formulaic nature means it's unlikely to have a lasting impression, it is still an overall solid good time.
