Tripping Arcadia by Kit Mayquist

3.0

It's been a few days since I finished this book, and I still can't quite pinpoint where I'm at with it.

The biggest hurdle I faced reading this one was the pacing. It was just so slow, from start to finish. Honestly, the big bang at the end didn't even feel like it was shocking; it was just another turn of a page.

This book was meant to be motivated by emotion, but yet, I never felt that come through to me. It kind of felt like everyone was living on the same plane of melancholy.

Now, the premise of this book was wonderful. I am all for revenge. And poisoning. And secrets within a sketchy family. All of these were huge selling points for this book. But the pacing, paired with the very confusing “twist” at the end, really just brought it all down for me and it wasn't quite as enjoyable as I had hoped it would be going into it.
