The Exorcist by William Peter Blatty

5.0

The Exorcist creeped me out in a major way - it was somehow creepier than the film, which by the way, scared the hell out of me as a kid 😂 (someone should've been monitoring my viewing habits)

The film was very faithful to the book which is always good and I feel like there was more significant details in the book but I can't be too sure since I haven't seen the film for over a decade (that will soon change 😎)

Regan's possession is definitely more detailed in the book and the book makes it's much clearer that the demon is on a mission to physically destroy Regan. There's also a lot more emphasis on the medical implications of her possession which makes Regan's possession that much sadder because Regan's body is physically exhausted by the demon within 😔

I liked Father Karras more in the book. Not sure why. I also found Father Merrin to be much more impressive too. I really liked the book and the movie but if I had to choose which one was better (or creepier) I'd find it hard to pick. Both are super creepy in their own right but overall the book just had that something extra 😈
