DNF at 40%. I could not get into this book. It seemed like a great concept and I love a good handyman hero, but the first few chapters failed to engage me. The writing style was, frankly, bad. It needed a good edit. It was overly wordy and meandering. I kept wanting to take out a red pen and rewrite the sentences to make them succinct and remove the run ons. I don’t know if this book knew what it wanted to be, a grumpy sunshine? A handyman, blue collar hero trope? But they were working on a home Reno show? But it didn’t feel like they were a production crew. I was confused. Lots of side characters who either already have a book in the series or have one on the burner. I couldn’t keep track of them, and honestly didn’t really care. I’m tapping out now. I have too many other worthy books to read.
