Lots of great tips and insightful stuff in this book and I think it’s a good read for any new parent or soon-to-be-parent. I was surprised by the tone of it since Dr. Karp seemed to be writing against convention wisdom when he first published it in 2002 and revised it in 2015 but in just those past few years it seems like what he has written about is much more mainstream wisdom. I was baffled to learn that there are three states where it is actually illegal for daycare workers to swaddle infants and things like baby wearing and breastfeeding were actively discouraged through most of the 20th century.

Dr. Karp offers some great expertise on both new approaches and rediscovering ancient practices. He does frequently plug his own products and follow up programs and I have to say I do swear by our SNOO bassinet but be forewarned that while he offers some great answers there is more the author would like to encourage you to purchase
