Born Wicked by Jessica Spotswood

3.0

I'm at a lost for words. I was hoping it would be a jaw dropping ending, it built up for that but the ending just fell sort of flat for my liking. The beginning was very slow paced, the last half up until the last 2 pages were Great. I love the main character and the not so obvious villain. The bother hood, the oppressing ass brotherhood… I mean I get it (NOT) lets lock up random people and ignore the obvious in front of our eyes, lets blame women for being lustful when you're the ones tempting them lets marry teens off to greasy old men with a dozen kids to take over the role as mother. This book honestly could have been a 4 star or higher but I was entirely too into my feelings about the oppressiveness of it all. What would have taken me a day or two tops to read took me over a week. I know its a very real part of our past and I know I'll have to deal somehow, I guess it just wasn't now! Sighs I digress...

Two thumbs up to the hero(s) I really enjoy how Spotswood didn't make them so overwhelmingly Gorgeous, they just read to me like average looking young men. Don't get me wrong they still were good-looking just not so unbelievably hot that I couldn't actually picture them in my head. (unless I'm the only one who has that issue) I really disliked Elena and the neighbor they're wretched. The father (Ha) he shouldn't even be apart of the story. Okay, Maybe he'll play a bigger role later on, I do feel he may knows more than he's leading on to. At least I hope he does or he may just win the award for worlds most Clueless Parent. As far as the magic, it wasn't enough for me. I want More, I want More, I want MORE! Hope in the following books they "Bring It", I mean I need the sisters really need to "Bring it ON". Lol

Overall 3.99 the writing was good and character were well developed and the plot is really interesting. I'd definitely recommend. Looking forward to reading the other installments.
