I really enjoyed this one, but I don't think I loved it as much as Every Summer After. There's a certain sadness in this book that plays so well into the overall story. I loved the alternating timelines and Fortune truly does that so so well. I feel like I really got to know these characters over the timespan and I thought they were really well developed. This book also dealt with grief and loss and the writing almost made it feel comforting. This is a love story, though in a few different ways, and I liked seeing that different type of love. There was love between mother and daughter, love between friends as well as romantic love and I thought each of those was written so beautifully. It also had a nice summer nostalgic vibe to it and I wish I was reading by a lake, however I felt like I was there anyway. I'm excited to see what Carley will do next for sure!
