I am NOT OKAY but also I’M SO HAPPY. This book! This boooooook!!! These characters! This romance! I just can’t.
If I was being strict, I would give this 4 stars, but to hell with that. This is 5 stars for me, flaws and all. I love this duology a whole lot. A whole lot!
I feel like the story dragged a little bit in the middle, but I was so invested in Roman and Iris, I ultimately didn’t care. Also, the conclusion felt a bit rushed. I was expecting more of a challenge. Another thing is that I wish some characters were developed a little more or more insight was provided about them. I was hoping to get to know Forest a bit better and hear his story to understand his experience/decisions, for one.
That aside, Rebecca Ross has the gentlest, most beautiful way to convey emotions, positive or negative, and describes them in ways that hit SO hard. Her writing in this duology is so immersive and enchanting, I know I will come back to it many times. I mean, I’ve already read Divine Rivals 3 times in less than a year.
I loved Roman and Iris even more in this one, not just as a couple, but as people. The values they hold are admirable and their strength throughout the story was really lovely to witness as a reader. They’re wonderful characters and they deserve the world!
