Call Me Evie by J.P. Pomare
slow-paced
4.0
I thought that this was a great debut by this Australian author, in 2018.
The writing was excellent, the development slow, and I thought the timeline structure was ingenious.
Plus, I loved well developed stories around unreliable narrators.
A good numbers of readers considered this book too boring, but I was hooked on the story from the beginning. It’s all about the storytelling, in my opinion, hence my ratings.
Perhaps the conclusion wasn’t very believable, but the twists were really good.
This was my first book by this author and I’m looking forward to reading his other books.
I listened to the audiobook and I must say that listening it at normal speed was quite painful. The narration was very slow. Listening at 1.5 was much better.
