The Book of Errors by Annie Coggan
5.0
I delighted in this art-book. Three historical sites in the US were restored with the best of intentions, but reveal so much more about the architects or historical (historicist) societies involved. One wealthy benefactor recreates a room from a childhood memory--and of course it will not match the house's actual blueprint! I am a Philly person and enjoyed reading about Betsy Ross's house--restored in the 1920s to look more lofty and important, since legend has it George Washington visited once. This interaction between current interpretation of the past and the actual sites events took place is FASCINATING.
