The Sprawl: Reconsidering the Weird American Suburbs by Jason Diamond

3.0

This book was not what I expected--it's more of a memoir/essay collection. The author is more interested in talking about movies and music from/about the suburbs and in exploring his feelings about the suburbs than in writing a history or cultural analysis. That said, I am as fascinated by the suburbs as he is and I read many of those movies, and listened to a lot of those bands so I enjoyed this overall. It helped me to clarify my own thoughts about suburbs, and gave me some new insights.
