The Legacy of Villains by Juliet Lockwood

5.0

this story had me invested from start to finish, and I literally could not put it down. fairytale retellings are one of my favorite types of stories and this one definitely did not disappoint. I have read many Beauty and the Beast retellings, and several Peter Pan ones (tho not as many) but this one felt so different and it was definitely unique. The way this author used the world and characters of Peter Pan but added the plot and various elements of B&B was incredible to read. and I know this is a YA fantasy but the romantic tension had me on the edge of my seat almost as much as the story itself.

The characters? AMAZING. I absolutely loved them. Jo has pushed herself onto my list of favorite FMCs with her strength and character and Pan? If you've seen the show Once Upon a Time he gives me Rumpelstiltskin x Hook vibes. and while we are on the topic of characters from OUAT, Jo gave me major Emma vibes too, which (again) I absolutely LOVED.
Overall, (if you can't tell) this was incredible, amazing, wonderful, (insert more synonyms of incredible here). and I NEED MORE. I can't wait to see what this author writes next. You should definitely check this out if you're in the mood for enemies to lovers, morally gray MMC, magic, challenges, riddles, adventure, pirates, secrets and the question of "who is *really* the villain?"
