The Black Count: Glory, Revolution, Betrayal, and the Real Count of Monte Cristo by Tom Reiss

5.0

The history of race relations in present day Haiti and France’s early, yet selective, abolition of slavery is intriguing. Listening to these advances being revoked was devastating, though anticipated. A recounting of events that is too familiar and applicable to current events. The first of 3 famous Alexandre Dumases lived a life inextricably linked to the history of global race relations, and a life deserving of immortalization in literature, as his son demonstrated.
