Your Brain Is Playing Tricks On You: How the Brain Shapes Opinions and Perceptions by Albert Moukheiber, Albert Moukheiber
2.0
This book was SUCH a let down. A literal waste of trees & resources.
For starters, there were so many grammatical and punctuation errors, I almost didn’t finish the book. I genuinely don’t understand how you could willingly publish something when they’re so many errors.
Second, the book is basically a reiteration of basic psychology. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing but Moukhieber literally offers no new ideas or pieces of research. The entire book is just a compilation of academic research “simplified” and put into everyday context. I say “simplified” because he actually does a shit job at explaining things.
The concept of illusions and biases and how they impact our daily lives is an incredibly interesting topic that he somehow managed to make it boring.
It’s honestly such a shame that his execution was ass because this book had so much potential.
I think if Moukheiber brought forth new pieces of research/ideas and actually hired a real Editor, the book would’ve been at least an 8/10.
Anyway, overall I’d give this book a 4/10.
