Cinder by Marissa Meyer

5.0

I love re-workings of fairy tales. This one takes place in a dystopian China and the protagonist is a cyborg. Very weird premise, but very well done. Although I did see the "surprise" coming from a mile away (I think I read too many books. I always guess at the plot twists) but it was well executed. I love the glass slipper was actually a foot. Lots of ethical concerns too. Very interesting book and it went beyond the Cinderella story.

My only complaint is the ending! They just are forcing us to read the next book, 2.0 and I guess I will read it. But I noticed along with a 3.0 and 4.0 book, there's also prequels, 0.5 book and a 0.6 book. What?! I haven't read the rest of them but that's too much. I just want to read the second book to get my well deserved happily ever after but it seems like they want to milk it...
