Hitler in Los Angeles: How Jews Foiled Nazi Plots Against Hollywood and America by Steven J. Ross
5.0
This is quite an extraordinary read. It's riveting and thrilling, but also revelatory. As a Los Angeleno, I had no idea about the Nazi and fascist cells operating in my city leading up to and during World War II. The story of how a couple of lawyers brought them down is fascinating. But what's even more revealing is the fact that the these guys were going around trying to sabotage military installations and assassinate Hollywood moguls while Japanese citizens who were minding their own business were rounded up and put into internment camps. It's such an important read for anyone interested in World War II or American history more broadly.
