so good! this is a book i think i would’ve liked more if i was younger, but i still really enjoyed it. i was rooting for the characters, and thought their interactions were so lively and real, although i do wish their backstories and personalities were more fleshed out and given a bit more time in the spotlight. there’s definitely more of a focus on their survival and whether or not they’ll make it to the next day. the ending seemed a little rushed, but i finished with a smile on my face, and i felt like everything was wrapped up well. mattie was such a strong character, and seeing her really come of age and grow up over the span of just a few months was so bittersweet and inspiring. i learned so much, too! definitely recommend :)
