The Quiet Tenant by Clémence Michallon
5.0
She has been kept in the shed for five years. The woman has fought to survive every day. When he tells her that he must move, she convinces him to take her with him. She becomes the woman subletting a room in the house he lives in. He tells her that her name is Rachel and that is all his thirteen-year-old daughter is to know. Rachel is determined to escape and she will do anything to make that happen.
WOW! This book had me invested from the first chapter. This is the perfect combination of serial killer and thriller. The story is told through the eyes of Rachel, the killer's daughter, the woman he is interested in, and on occasion…his other victims. As Rachel describes how she was taken and how she came to be the one who survived you cannot help but root for her and hope she escapes. The killer reminds me of the infamous serial killer, Israel Keyes. He too was a neighbor that everyone liked, knew, and trusted - until his true self is revealed as a horrific killer. This is a thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat.
