Song Yet Sung by James McBride
5.0
This novel is the One Maryland, One Book selection for this year, and it was absolutely amazing. The writing is lyrical without trying too hard, and the story pulls you along nicely. Then novel is set on Maryland's Eastern Shore, and is built around the story of an escaped slave who is captured by slave catchers, and then manages to get free of them. We follow her and see some of the lives she touches, including those of other slaves and free blacks, as well as slave catchers and owners. I really enjoyed this.
