“You told once that we are like. Both of us… lonely. I loathed you for saying it. But I suppose in some ways you were right. I suppose there is something to the idea of company.”

It is a great book and I was, indeed, grabbing more often to my page markers than I could’ve counted.
This was my first time encountering V. E. Schwab’s writing style and I want to be honest – I like it. It felt nice to start the year with something which is a bit slower paced than maybe some other titles on my list for this year. Quite an enchanting meeting I’d say even though standing in front of book shelf in the bookstore, asking myself over and over again which cover to pick, I’m glad it was this one and if I was to decide again, I’d still choose the stars. It’s simple – I love my night sky and the stars residing there.
The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue became not part of my bookish family but turned into a wonderful friend.

⚠️ Deeper or more on the spot points I noted down while reading — SPOILER WARNING ⚠️

At 50% of the book:

This is exactly the point where this books gets really intriguing to me.
Don’t get me wrong. Schwab has a really nice way of writing and I did use a lot of page markers already h o w e v e r despite the obviously pact and curse thing, it sliiightly felt less fantasy vibe-ish or magical to me but more sliding over to contemporary, you know? I’m totally fine with the medium to slow pace of the story because it does a great build up of the story. I’m still not always sure if Victoria uses too many details or if it’s actually the right amount. All I can say is - our dear author has experience with writing. (And yes, it’s the first book I read of her.)

Part 4, Chapter 10:
This makes my eyes burn from unshed tears because it really tips almost the scale of being able to hold back but also wanting to let go and feel the tears drop. In the end we all just want our parents to be proud of us, to know their love for us.

Now at 80%:
The mean thing about Luc is even though he is an old god, he seems sometimes so incredibly human and sort of nice at least that I can hardly believe that he does  n o t  care about Addie (and would only be after her soul). That he actually gets sad when the time is up for people who made a contract with him —  I know he was angry last time but maybe he is indeed … lonely.
