A cute take on the opposites attract trope with some fun world-building around the “royal” houses of the various holidays. I liked Coal’s growth through the novel and recognizing the ways in which he was self-sabotaging, but because it was single POV Hex unfortunately ended up a bit of a mystery and much more one note as a result. Still, I am curious to read future entries in the series and get a look at the workings of holidays other than Christmas, Halloween, and Easter, because there is clearly a lot of fodder here.
