A Song of Wraiths and Ruin by Roseanne A. Brown
4.0
I've heard soooooooooo many good things about "A Song of Wraiths and Ruin." It was also VERY hyped by Fairyloot and many major companies.
I'm so glad to say that it lived up to the hype for me!
First of all, I'm going to say the bad parts for me, just to get it over and done with. I disliked the total . . . unthoughtfulness (I know it's not a word, but that's the only way I can describe it) of Karina and Malik. There were so many things that were obvious to me that they had to beat around the bush to find the solution too. For example, when Idir was Ↄwɔ. I couldn't believe that Malik, who seems intelligent, couldn't spot that almost immediately. OR when Karina AND Malik had the choice just to be together - if they wanted each other so much, why couldn't they give up who they wanted to save? Secondly, how young Malik seemed in the beginning. For someone who is probably about 17-18 years old, he sure acts like a 15 year old. And the final thing was when he "died" and was actually saved - totally saw it coming.
But now for the good stuff. I HAVE to comment on the dance at Midway! The dance between Malik and Karina was, dare I say it, hot. Smokin' hot, actually! I was swooning so much. Secondly, I loved the way Roseanne A. Brown wrote this book. It had an amazing plot (not to slow, not too fast) and it had everything else that makes an awesome book! I loved the mythology mixed in as well. The final thing I enjoyed were the three twists - the first one where the Faceless King is Idir/Ↄwɔ. The second one was where Karina suppressed her magic after she killed her dad and sister. The third one where Farid resurrected Hanane.
Overall, a very good book. I look forward (and can't wait) for its sequel, "A Psalm of Storms and Silence" coming out next June!!!
