Look Into My Eyes by Lauren Child

2.0

I don’t fully understand what I’m supposed to like about Ruby Redfort. She’s an ultra rich, ultra spoilt brat who happens to have some kind of gift for puzzles. I was particularly uncomfortable with the way this book talks down to anyone deemed less intelligent than Ruby. Especially her completely lovely parents whose biggest flaw is that they’re critical of her love of graphic tees. Any conflict Ruby comes up against is resolved almost immediately solved. Not to mention the bit with the slideshow of “likely culprits” who are all basically Scooby Doo villains and actually turn out to be the real villains too.
