Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix by J.K. Rowling
5.0
I’m finding it hard to write something about this book because or I’ll write too much and it’ll get confused or it’ll be a two sentences review. Let’s see how it’ll all turn out.
I’ll start saying the first thing I said when I started this book: the fifth movie is my favorite. Now I can definitely say that the book is too (though I really get stuck in between this one and the Goblet of Fire). This was a hell of an adventure, I must say. All the elements and how the story turns out with some plots – like Umbridge being the one who sent the Dementors after Harry while everybody thought it was Voldemort (seriously, did it cross someone’s mind?).
I cried a lot with Cedric’s death but, even though I was preparing myself for this moment since before starting the series, Sirius’s death was so terrible and heartbreaking that I just couldn’t stop crying (a lot of sobbing included). I literally stopped reading and only picked up the book the next day because I couldn’t keep going. Some people may say I’m crazy, some may say I’m dramatic or just overreacting and some may say it’s totally normal and expected – but I don’t care for any thoughts someone may have about it.
I also liked to see Ginny speaking her mind and doing whatever she wanted to do. I’m liking her even more now. Besides that, we some moments with her and Harry, something I really want to happen more on the sequences because I want to see their relationship growing more. I ship them because of the movies (I always liked the chemistry between the characters) but I always thought it wasn’t well-evolved and I was really hoping that would be different in the books but I’m only seeing the chemistry between them because I want to, otherwise, I don’t think I’d be able to see a lot of it. I’d probably ship him with nobody – only because Hermione and Ron seemed a lot like Ron’s parents on this book and I see her and harry more like a sibling relationship.
It hurt me to see how James, Sirius and Lupin were when teenagers, guess I felt the same as Harry, disappointment. I liked how J. K. Rowling showed us that and I would love to read books telling their Hogwarts story, which makes me wonder why the author didn’t write anything (I’m expecting this will happen on the next books).
Of course, there were things I didn’t like at all, like Cho and Harry’s relationship (I already didn’t like her and that made it even worse) - witch is probably why I loved the scene where Ginny says Cho is going out with her (now ex) boyfriend. I’m truly hoping we won’t see her a lot on the sequence.
I was wowed by this book and I loved it. Apparently, each book I read becomes my favorite so I question myself if “Half-Blood Prince” and “Deathly Hallows” will beat book 4 and 5.
