The Striker by Ana Huang

4.0

The Striker is a fiery and emotionally charged romance that successfully blends the high-stakes world of professional sports with the grace and discipline of ballet. The chemistry between and Scarlett leaps off the page from the moment they meet.

Asher is everything you’d expect from a world-class footballer. His rivalry with Scarlett’s brother adds a compelling tension, especially as Asher struggles with his growing attraction to the one woman he’s not supposed to fall for.

Scarlett, meanwhile, is a refreshing heroine. Her past as a ballerina adds depth to her character, and her resilience in the face of personal tragedy makes her easy to root for.

The story thrives on its sizzling romantic tension, especially as they’re forced into close quarters for training. Their banter, the slow burn of their attraction, and the eventual payoff feel well-paced and satisfying. The novel also does a great job of intertwining both characters’ personal growth with their romance.
