We Have Always Lived in the Castle by Shirley Jackson

5.0

This book feels oddly familiar to me, as though I've read it before (obviously long enough ago that I'm not even sure I have). And it doesn't take too long to figure out what is really going on--what happened to the Blackwood sisters. And no matter how disturbing it gets, thinking about it, the underlying story--of sisters, of love, of home--is really quite touching.

I especially liked Merricat's "On the Moon" imaginings. Though the metaphor behind it is vaguely unsettling.

Also, Jonas the cat. He's a solid character in his own right.
