This was a pretty good book. Three characters, in three different time periods, each one felt unique, all of them experiencing some sort of abuse, sharing the Weyward lineage, an affinity for the natural world, plants, animals, bugs. The chapters alternate between the three throughout the book. The character Kate felt a bit naive to me, and at the end of her story, which I think was meant to feel like a culmination of her entire story, I was sort of confused how her abuser arrived so fast and then it was just over. Violet was my favorite character, a plucky young woman, considered a but unusual, who dreams of being a botanist. She's also a bit naive, but she felt more believable to me. Violet's story is an all around unfortunate and upsetting situation, but I wanted to stay in her portions of the book. Altha's story was the farthest back in history, during witch trials, and her story was the most interesting to me. I think this book would make a great TV show!
