I adored this book from start to finish. Daisy Jones and the Six is such a casual read that before you know it, the ending creeps up on you and you suddenly realize that the story is about so much more than the drama between the bandmates. It’s a story about knowing your limits. A story about having the strength to set them. A story about going past them. A story about living with the tension when you’re teetering on the edge — and what playing with that does to the people who love us.

This is also an important book because it shows women who have different dreams and embrace the world in different ways. Rather than tearing any one of these perspectives down, we get to explore each of them, hear the women discuss it with each other, and ultimately see how each woman goes on to live a happy life.

The unique narration, the carefully crafted tensions, and the complex relationships in Daisy Jones and the Six make it one of my favorite reads this year.

The audio book, read by a full cast, is phenomenal. What a great way to experience the story.

UPDATE: 4/7/23

It was a like turning on an episode of Gilmore Girls to pick up Daisy Jones again. I just finished watching the Amazon Prime series and read to spend more time with the band and parce the differences between the book and the show. It’s just perfect.
