This was gifted to me and I was reluctant to read it, such a book by an American author? I finally read it out of spite after Russia's invasion of Ukraine, a tiny bit of extremely mild revenge.
I did enjoy it mostly. The whole thing feels very self-satisfied, but the characters touched me. Nothing about this felt Russian in the slightest, but that was what I wanted. Just don't read this to learn about Russia.
