I’m a little indifferent about this one. The story itself is relatable in some aspects - a family dealing with illness and loss - but the structure proved frustrating for me. Instead of typical chapters, the story is told in prose structured almost like short poems. I’ve read other novels that been written like this without issue, but I feel like it kept me at a distance from the characters in this one. I found it more difficult to engage with the story. It feels like it’s a disservice to these characters. The story doesn’t seems underdeveloped. Maybe it’s just me. I had high hopes going on, but feel somewhat let down.
